Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to some of the most common questions we get asked.

Placenta remedies have been under scrutiny over the past few years and I take safety very seriously. The Food Standards Agency has undertaken a project to provide local authorities with guidance on how to manage Placenta Processing businesses in the UK to ensure consistency in the approach that we use. My business is in the process of being registered with the local Environmental Health Officer as a food business and I am committed to the highest standards of food hygiene possible. There has been recent investigation about the safety of placenta encapsulation at Jena University in Germany and other studies from around the world. Please contact me if you would like links to any of these.

I am unable to make any claims about the effect of placenta remedies as there is a lack of scientific research to back these up, however, many clients have reported multiple benefits such as improved mood, reduced bleeding, faster healing and increased milk supply in response to using placenta remedies.

So many topics surrounding childbirth are seen as 'controversial' and families seem to be judged no matter what they do. Placenta remedies are no different. I promote the choice of women and birthing people to make the decisions that are right for them and if placenta remedies are wanted, strive to provide a sensitive and quality service to provide the safest remedies possible.

I am located in Central England which means that I can collect your placenta from many hospitals / birth centres / locations within a 2 hour radius of Stratford upon Avon. If you are having your baby outside of this area, please get in touch and I can confirm if it is possible to collect from your preferred location.

Group B Strep (GBS) is a normal bacterium that up to 25% of the population have in their vagina. It is usual to have no symptoms or side effects, so no way of knowing that you have it unless you are tested when the bacteria is active. If you are treated as having GBS, or if it has been present in a previous pregnancy, antibiotics are usually offered during birth. To be extra safe, if you have GBS or a history of GBS, I will steam your placenta prior to dehydration, to kill any bacteria present. I am able to prepare essence and tinctures for you too.

The best thing to do is to CONTACT me if you have any questions regarding your placenta. Placenta remedies can still be prepared even in special circumstances.

If I am unable to prepare placenta remedies from your placenta (for example, your placenta is sent to pathology and infection is found to be present), the fee paid will be refunded to you (minus £50 administration fee to cover kit delivery and collection).
